LUMA employs approximately 4000 staff and serves around 1.5 million customers in Puerto Rico.[4] A separate lawsuit filed this week alleges the company terminated an employee in July 2025 for opposing PNP political patronage, as well as on grounds of race, Dominican origin and age.[2]
During a public hearing Tuesday, Puerto Rico House of Representatives President Carlos "Johnny" Méndez Núñez criticized the Puerto Rico Piloting Commission for lacking authority to intervene in San Juan dock disputes.[1]
