Two generating units at the San Juan power plant have been operating on diesel instead of liquefied natural gas due to delayed deliveries, raising generation costs and residential power bills.[1] This diesel reliance at San Juan and Palo Seco plants has now run for more than two weeks. Temporary backup generation units are deployed at both sites.[3] [4] Lawmakers plan to review the existing New Fortress Energy contract for San Juan Bay docks A, B and C during the upcoming hearing process.[2]
