If you are stepping out or heading to the beach, pay attention. The Servicio Nacional de Meteorología in San Juan has an active heat warning for all of Puerto Rico, in effect from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM local time.[1] The service also warned on Sunday of a high, life-threatening rip current risk at beaches in the north, northwest and east of the island, and at Culebra.[2] Those are the hours and the places to take care, whether you live in Adjuntas or San Juan or you are back home visiting from the diaspora. The warning covers the whole island, not one town or one coast. Plan around the midday heat, check with local authorities before you swim on the coasts named, and look after the elderly and the little ones through the hottest part of the day.
