The NexoSur manufacturing panel was the snapshot. Ponce's investment pipeline is the movie.

A $100 million CooperVision plant, a $50 million hotel-casino complex, a $35 million Marriott conversion and a $30 million Hilton renovation - the southern convention closed with the city's biggest private-investment wave in years already underway.

The four companies that shared a manufacturing panel at the Cámara de Comercio del Sur's NexoSur 2026 convention in Ponce - contact lenses, biopharma filtration, crackers and mattresses - were a snapshot of a larger story unfolding in the city itself.[1] InvestPR's Alexis Rivera Flores moderated the session, which paired multinationals CooperVision and Sartorius with Puerto Rican exporters Rovira Foods and Global Mattress, all operating under the same U.S. regulatory frameworks, workforce and logistics.[2][3][4][5] The expansion is literal: CooperVision is due to open a new plant in Ponce in 2027 with an investment of more than $100 million.[6] The city's private pipeline runs well past manufacturing. The Hampton Inn by Hilton and Ponce Business Center complex - including the Casino Grand Caribe, which would become Ponce's fifth casino - opens in December 2026 with an investment of more than $50 million, and the former Hotel Ponce Intercontinental is being rebuilt as The Continental, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property, with an announced investment of $35 million.[7][8] A four-story MedCentro multidisciplinary clinic in the Playa de Ponce adds $83.5 million.[9] Even the convention's own venue is part of the wave: Serrallés Hotel, Inc. is investing $30 million to modernize the Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort, renovating 255 rooms along with the lobby, restaurant, event halls, pool and gym in phases that keep the hotel open.[10][11] On the public side, Mayor Marlese Sifre Rodríguez's administration has converted the Banco Municipal into the Autoridad de Financiamiento e Inversión Ponceña (AFIP), a financing corporation licensed by Puerto Rico's financial institutions regulator to fund business, housing and infrastructure projects.[12][13] And at the waterfront, the $93 million La Guancha reconstruction continues, with the La Guancha Food Court - more than 16 merchants - opened on October 2.[14][15]
