The Oct. 15 performance drew on stories written during confinement, part of a project linking Puerto Rico DCR, UPR and Dancing Through Prison Walls.
A dance performance built from stories written by incarcerated people was staged on Oct. 15 at the Bayamon women's correctional facility in Puerto Rico.
The work came out of a project called Freedom Time, a collaboration between the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR), the University of Puerto Rico, and the group Dancing Through Prison Walls.
The choreography drew directly on the confinement stories of the women held there, turning what they wrote inside into movement on the floor.
