A dance performance built from stories written by incarcerated people was staged on Oct. 15 at the Bayamon women's correctional facility in Puerto Rico. [1] The work came out of a project called Freedom Time, a collaboration between the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR), the University of Puerto Rico, and the group Dancing Through Prison Walls. [2] The choreography drew directly on the confinement stories of the women held there, turning what they wrote inside into movement on the floor. [3]
