Lawmakers discuss bill banning live streams of hearings AI illustrationhow this picture was madeThe House of Representatives of Puerto Rico approved on Thursday a bill that prohibits the live streaming of judicial hearings held before a trial.[1]
The measure is House Project 1211, which bans live transmissions of probable cause and preliminary hearings.[2] Representatives have said public hearings must be held because the current project replaces previous versions submitted by La Fortaleza and Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz.[3]
The approval moves a prohibition that had only been proposed into a text the House has now passed.
