The Puerto Rico Statistics Institute reported that 260,820 households on the island had solar panels installed in 2025, in residential energy data published on Thursday.[^1]

That is 16% of all households in Puerto Rico as of 2025.[^2]

Separately, residents with installed solar systems stopped receiving the $4 monthly electricity bill from LUMA Energy at the start of the 2026 fiscal year.[^3] The two facts arrive together, but the Statistics Institute data counts systems installed as of 2025; it does not measure how the end of the $4 bill changed that count.

Whether the end of the $4 bill moves the solar count is not something the published 2025 figure can answer. The next residential energy release is the number to watch.
