Puerto Rico's Ministerio Público asked the Aibonito First Instance Tribunal on November 5 to reject Elvia Cabrera Rivera's request for a new trial, and to do so without first holding an argument hearing.[1] The motion puts the question squarely before the Aibonito court: decide the retrial request on the papers, without the two sides arguing it out in person. That is the step prosecutors are pressing for, and the tribunal has not yet ruled.
