Governor Jenniffer González has signed Law 207-2026, establishing mandatory new handling requirements for customer complaints filed with grid operator LUMA Energy.[1] The law adds a new paragraph to Section 6 of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority Act.[2] It prohibits LUMA from closing any complaint case without resolution, and requires the operator to build a system for customers to verify the status of filed claims. No complaint may be marked as attended or resolved prior to confirmation from the affected customer.[3] All customer claims must include the assigned complaint number, filing date, estimated response time and closing date.[4] LUMA has 180 days from the law's effective date to adjust its complaint management systems and internal processes to meet the new requirements.[5]
