New Fortress Energy asked the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau on Oct. 10, 2026, to schedule a technical hearing to clarify recent regulatory resolutions.[1]
The request lands in the same week that the House of Representatives in Puerto Rico moved on the company. Lawmakers cited New Fortress Energy executives and high-ranking energy sector officials to appear at a hearing set for Oct. 19, 2026.[2]
So there are two tracks now for anyone on the island watching their light bill: the company seeking its own hearing before the Energy Bureau, and the House calling the same executives to the Capitol nine days later. The facts here do not say what the recent resolutions change or what the House wants to ask.
