The Senate of Puerto Rico has formally asked the Department of the Family to turn over all documentation tied to Secretary Suzanne Roig Fuertes' September 2025 official trip to Spain.[1]
The request was filed by Senator Juan Oscar Morales and gives the department five working days to deliver the documents.[2][3]
The Department of the Family is the same agency that, on 17 March 2026, awarded a $355,646.50 youth mentorship contract to SAMU Foundation Corp.[4] The Senate request covers the contract process as well as the trip: Roig Fuertes met Fundacion SAMU leaders during the September 2025 visit, and the contract was signed days later that March.[5][6][7]
Roig Fuertes has denied irregularities, saying the competitive process was independent of the trip, which she described as tied to a no-cost collaborative agreement with SAMU that runs from August 2025 to July 2027.[8][9][10]
The request, filed as Petition 2026-0139, names contract 2026-000177 and gives the department until the following Wednesday to produce the records. [11][12][13]
The framework collaboration agreement was signed for an initial three-year term during the September 2025 visit to Sevilla.
