The second Festival Ponce Melódico will be held Sunday 22 November 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Atrio Central of Plaza del Caribe in Ponce.^[1][2][3][4] The organizer is Camerata Señorial, a Ponce chamber ensemble founded in 2019,^[5][6] and this year's lineup roughly doubles the first edition's participation: eleven choral groups from across Puerto Rico will perform individually through the day, among them the Coral Municipal de Ponce, the Coro of the University of Puerto Rico in Cayey, the Coro of the Universidad Interamericana's Ponce campus, the Coro of the Centenaria Ponce High School, the youth and children's choirs of Ponce's Escuela Libre de Música Juan Morel Campos, the Coro de Niños de Caguas, Atlas: Coro de Varones, the Coro de Niños de Ponce, Estudio Señorial and the host ensemble itself.^[7] One centerpiece moment will be a tribute to María Inés Suárez Pérez-Guerra, founding director of the Coro de Niños de Ponce, in recognition of her career in choral music.^[8] The day closes with a grand choral mass accompanied by the Compañía Ponce Lírico and the Señorial Brass ensemble, staged to evoke the mall's traditional Christmas tree-lighting concerts. Within it, the massed choir will perform the historic Villancico Yaucano with Ponce Lírico, marking the 75th anniversary of the piece by maestro Amaury Veray Torregrosa - first performed on Christmas Eve 1951 at the Parroquia del Santísimo Rosario in Yauco and now one of the most recognizable works of the Puerto Rican Christmas repertoire.^[9] Edwin Gabriel Núñez-Laó, Camerata Señorial's founder and artistic director, has framed the festival as an act of camaraderie - a message of brotherhood among everyone who practices choral art on the island - and as a musical encounter open to the whole community.
